Well, I just returned last night from Yosemite and have been catching up on the posts. Looks like I missed some colorful skies. It was raining Monday so I went to Bodie and Mono Lake, spent Tuesday there and returned to Yosemite that evening. On the way to breakfast Wednesday morning I stopped to photograph this stand of trees. No doubt many of you will recognize them. Probably have some shots of your own.

Very nice image with special lighting Paul...
nice bit of ground fog also...
I was there Sat. before the rain started and
yes we got some of this stand in the Awahnee meadow from
the other side with the trees backlit.
The guy that carpooled with me was from San Jose..
It's OK...you missed the earthquake
Lemme know if you are UP for the "low snow"
winter Yosmite trips??
OK, now I wanna see your Bodie images !!!
in gratitude,

I did a little touch up in photoshop. The fog in the trees made them a bit washed out so I punched them up a bit with contrast and saturation. What do you think? Is it an improvement?
I used to climb quite a bit in The Valley and know this place well. I like the original image. The mist and the sky in the second one are a little too hot. The first one gives the feeling of the quiet serenity of a Yosemite morning.
This was a tough lighting situation, and you handled it well.
Paul, a beautiful image that really puts me there, I can almost feel the cool air. I also like your first image, it has a calming softness to it. Thanks for posting.

Paul,
I like the mood of the first and the light/contrast on the trees (alder?) in the second.
But overall, I like the first the best.
I know this spot well and you've captured a wonderful morning shot in the valley. Nothing you could do really to change where Half Dome is placed, but honestly that doesn't really matter because this really captures the essence of Yosemite. Nicely handled.

Hi Paul,
This is delightful. The interplay of light and shadow is very intruiging. The overall composition is nice but its the fog and the light beams that really make this one sing for me.
Well done. Difficult lighting but you really exposed the image well.

This is Ahwahnee meadow, isn't it. Lovely images. I driven by these trees a lot and always wanted to photograph them but the light or something else didn't work.
