Cattle Egret
A rare visitor to Guernsey, only the 3rd ever recorded if I'm not mistaken. It's been here a few days now and seems fairly well settled. This is one from last evening when after a few tries I finally managed to get into the hide without disturbing it. Taken late afternoon with fast fading light. I managed to get some nice portrait type shots but I like this one of it taking a drink best.

500 f/4, 1.4x, 40D - ISO 400, 1/200, f/5.6, manual exp.

Thanks

Paul

Tidy shot, though I would be tempted to crop in closer as surroundings have little to offer IMHO.

Hi Paul,

Nice shot, with good detail in the white's, only nit IMO is it's a shame the BG is not a bit better, if you had that lovely water all the way it would have been perfect.

Still a nice shot to have in your records of this scarce visitor

Regards

Rob

I've taken your advice Tim and re-cropped it, and yes it does look better.

Thanks :toast:

Woks better in the repost Paul :toast:

Did you shoot this portrait or is it cropped from landscape - if it is I'd be tempted to try for more canvass left

I shot it portrait Andy. I'm too tired to look at it anymore, I'm all processed out

I'm intending on getting up nice and early tomorrow and first port of call will be the C.Egret so we'll see what the weekend brings.
