Lenticular over Nidderdale

I spotted a couple of lenticular clouds this afternoon and made a determined effort to get out as we don't see them often. Not sure I really picked the best place - high on the moors in the middle of nowhere - but thankfully I found a puddle to add some foreground interest. Looks better BIGGER HERE. Tristan

wow, what amazing clouds, I have never seen them. Sometimes you have to take what you can get, a worthy shot.

Really nice and interesting clouds, like the giant buttock print as well
Great stuff, landscape is always better big.

Those are some clouds, never seen any like that. Like the reflected cloud in the water. My only nit is the horizon running through the centere of the image, but I suppose to get all the components in the shot that there was not much choice on shooting angle. Still a lovely image that I would have been very happy to have taken.

Hi Tristan,

Clouds are fantastic. Not only their shape but the light is also spectacular. Reflection add quite a bit to your image, but unfortunately it's still 50:50 split and this is not an image I would be comfortable with this ratio as contrast between dark and bright is just too much for my eyes.
How close were you to that puddle? I guess getting lower to clear a bit of empty space in distant foreground my do the trick.

All that rumble aside, I'm sure it was a great experience, as those formations are unusual, but great to see.

Cheers,
Marko
