Although fall is closing here in CA, I wanted to post this image taken a long time ago. In fact, this is the 3rd exposure I ever took with a 4x5. It was taken with a Bush Press camera - I think 150mm lens, don't remember. Velvia
I've been plodding thru all my 4x5's since 1993 when this image was taken. I'm re-scanning and scanning many for the first time. I'm up to 1995 now, got a long way to go.
Not too bad for a beginner at the time. I don't care too much for the cramped fallen log, but what the heck, you learn.
Hope you enjoy it. It's been fun going thru the archives.
Lon, you were smart in keeping the older shots, especially some of the 4x5s. I found myself dumping images that had anamolies of certain issues and now realize my later scanning and PS work could have resolved some of them. Oh well, as you stated, "what the heck, you learn". The old upright tree, water action, and colorful backdrop are real nice in this one.
Going back through old trannies/negs is like seeing old friends, isn't it. It's intreesting that you bring this up because I was, just yesterday, looking at some late 70's--early 80's black&white 4x5 negs and thought of scanning some of them.
You are sure right about learning! Photography, like mathematics, is not a spectator sport: we have to keep plugging away at it!

Nice one, Lon. There is a nice feeling of place in this capture.
The tall tree on the right almost seems like it is floating on the river.

man, if this is you as a beginner, then I need to go back to photography 101. This is excellent. The one thing I don't like is that log on the left edge though.
