more toadiness

this jumped out at me as being a bit nice whilst looking through a few. these toads are fairly common as i think it's the same species as the previous one.

i've played around with this image a bit, giving it some high pass sharpening (thanks andy!) and also some orton effect after seeing the effect on david clapps post. this had the effect of blurring the body of the subject making the head pop out of the image a bit, as well as bringing the saturation up a little.

same set up as before, ring flash at 1/4 power 105mm lens, probably around f8 @ 125th. i like the ring flash, not just because it gives an even light, but that in lowish light you can shoot on the perimeters of its short range with a longer lens giving it a quick drop off behind the subject.

comments wlecome.

Lovely shot Mark :toast:

One small thing, it could just do with the whites dumbing down a tad in the edges of the fungii - try it with a soft burn tool, especially the one he's got his left foot on.

Really nice shot :wavey:

PS - Holly moley, I've just checked the price for an XL2 housing - 3200 with a 20x port - forget the cowardice excuse, now I got a new one

The lighting gives a real nocturnal shot feel, and the image is critically sharp where needed. Good stuff.
