I wanted to let people know here that the Portland Gardens are definitely done for this season. I was trying to time it to hit the peak and I was told by their staff that this was the weekend to come - Yeah right there was nothing but this yellow tree and no maples. This was for fun and I had paid my 10 bucks already so I tried to make something of the day.
This is a image from the Portland Gardens. This is an exposure of two minutes using a Vari-ND of 8 Stops plus a 5 Stop ND for 13 stops of Neutral Density to get this long expoure. It was hard to control the reflections here and a polarizer was used as the first filter on. This was just fun and not meant to be anything serious.

Cool...
I was told similar tales by the Mt Rainier staff, luring me in...

Well, at least your pic is greener than what I saw today...the fall color's been done for at least a week. The last rain spell did it (and no color report from them this time ).
I like the super swirls. And if it's any consolation, winter shots are pretty nice here too.

Well you did great with what you had. Love the ND effect and the swirl. The tones on the foilage and water seem a bit off or over saturated. The waterfall is blue on my monitor. Is is just my crap work monitor? Probably. I think the compo would be even stronger if you chopped some off the bottom. Sorry you missed it. They just wanted your $10!!! (good thing you have a prius)

The cyclone seems too different from the top part to me, Kevin. Maybe cropping about a third off the bottom would bring the background in closer and make the cyclone more of an "oh!" kind of thing.
