I hope we see lots of great images from this weekend since the colors have been quite good in the Ozarks the past few days. I only got a few snaps from a quick trip down to the river, but do love reflections when the sun is out.

I guess if there's anything to be said positive about a lack of rain this year, it would be that there have been some some nice reflections in the pools that seem to abound. Looks like you found a nice one Tim - the light tree trunks frame the rock very nicely. Beautiful color!

Lack of rainfall? Heck we have had a ton of rain in the Buffalo area this fall - TOO MUCH rain is why the color was so late this year. There is actually more water in the creeks right now than in a normal year - we just got spoiled last year with all the water - that was very rare. We had five inches of rain here in October, a bunch in September, and even a good amount in August. The best color (and on time) will happen when the summer is moist but Sept-Oct are DRY. When it rains as much as we have had this year the colors are knocked back (hence sumac and blackgums just now getting color - those normally turn in early September) and are often muted. In a normal dry year we will have spectacular color and dry creek, except for the pools1

Tim, this is a very unique shot, reminds me of some fine art paintings I have seen, but I like yours much better. This looks like a great candidate for a canvas print.

I was just thinking the other day that it was nice to have the Buffalo running more like a creek than a river because in addition to all the calm pools you get to see of a lot of the boulders, gravel bars, and rocky banks that otherwise are submerged. Of course I think I would rather be spoiled with high water like last year, and like three years ago.

Also, beautiful shot, with a nice mix of reflected color and sub-surface rocks.

Tim beautiful colors and neat comp. Glad to here your opinion on the fall colors that is exactly what I was thinking, about the rain and your opinion helps confirm it.
