I sold a photo to a publisher in the UK and they are now asking for an invoice. Is there anything special I need to do? I have never sold to another country before. What currency will they pay in?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

When I sold an image to a French publisher last year, I wrote up an invoice with a description of the image, image number (if there is one) and size, and how it was to be used, along with the price in US dollars. Be sure to tell them you want to be paid in our currency. Depending on how they pay you...direct deposit, check....you might also want to add a fee of $15 for the bank fee you will more than likely be charged for the transaction if payment is not made directly by check.

I also had to get a tax exemption form for foreign taxes, from the IRS so that I didn't have to pay their taxes. This apparently cannot be done at a local IRS office anymore, as I found out, and will take approximately 6 weeks. Yes, it's a pain in the neck, but worth it.
The form is Form 8802 and is the Application for US Residency Certification to prove that you were a US citizen when they bought the image.
