Dear Tom,
I write to you in your official capacity as part of the UKNP to bring to your attention the Nature Photographers’ Joint Convention for 2008, which will take place at the Hayes Conference Centre at Swanwick in Derbyshire from Friday, October 3rd until Sunday, October 5th, 2008 i.e. Friday dinner until Sunday lunch.
This will be a national event attracting many members of the Nature Photographers’ Portfolio (NPP), the Nature Photographic Society (NPS)and the Zoological Photographic Club (ZPC) to their biennial convention. In order to attract delegates from across the widest possible spectrum of nature photography, I would like to invite you to publicise this event to the members of your organisation and offer them the opportunity to secure places. I attach a copy of the booking form for your use. This event will also be publicised in the Royal Photographic Society’s Nature Group magazine, The Iris, and so demand for the remaining places is sure to be very brisk. Your members should be advised to act very promptly to avoid disappointment. There is a very limited number of rooms available! I will acknowledge all applications from UKNP members as soon as they arrive and store them in strict order of arrival until January 1st, 2008. No cheques will be cashed before that date. On January 1st, 2008, I will allocate all remaining places strictly in accordance with the order in which I have received them. This will ensure parity and fairness between RPS Nature Group, 35PC Nature Circles, UPP and UKNP members. I will immediately return cheques to any members who have been unsuccessful in obtaining places, but retain their names on a waiting list. Any cancellations will be first offered to the name at the top of the waiting list.
I will act as Convention Organiser and I would like to ask you to act as my link with your members. All the distribution of convention business including booking forms etc will be done through you. This will ensure that all of your members are dealt with in a fair and even-handed way. They will all have an equal opportunity to secure places at the convention. Booking forms with full remittance should be returned directly to me.
I hope this basic outline meets with your approval and this important event will enjoy your support. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you feel I can be of assistance. It is, I believe, an excellent venue and we have been very lucky to secure the last remaining opportunity available there in the autumn of 2008.
Kindest regards
J.T.
To get a booking form from me you must be a known NPN/UKNP member and not a guest. Costs are around £160 for the three days (all in).
