Thought I would post another image from the Eastern Sierra Trip. I wasn't planning on posting this in ESS, but wanted to get some feedback anyway...

This was taken about 20 paces from Dan and Prestons campground. While these guys were taking naps, eating lunch or whatever, I had the itch to go shoot. What a beautiful campground this was too - how could I resist?

I was attracted to the backlit trees of course, but am wondering about the 2nd-day look of the half melted snow. Scene just seems kinda ordinary to me - but I kinda like.

Thanks!

Lon

oh yeah, the usual, antique camera, 2GB emulsion flash holder, and an optical device

Lon,

I know this place! Nice memories this shot brings, I must say!

I like the composition, but feel it's a tad flat. You might consider bumping the contrast and the saturation and lightness of the yellows a bit. The snow doesn't bother a bit, and I love the texture in the foreground.

I like the diagonal path formed by the composition towards the backlit
trees.

thanks,murali

As there is snow on the ground this must have been after I left. I can still remember the surrounding sites around the campsite here, Lon. It was nice to see this scene again, although, that outing is moving fast paced behind us all now. Thanks for sharing this additional parting shot from the trip to the east side for you all, and the northern hemisphere for me.

Sorry I missed you guys and this trip... :frown:
Must have been right after my "head-on" accident...
I even had to cancel my trip to Bodie....
Lon, I feel Preston hit just about all the main points..
Maybe if you do that it will lead the eye up to the colors of the trees
and give us more of a place to go and focal point?
'Tis the kinda image that almost lets you smell the place, tho
and I does love that aroma.....

Thanks folks!

Preston, you're right about seeing a photog in the image.... I had to take a close look at 200%... but there you were!

Seriously.... I agree with your comments and I could do some work on it. But I'll save the work for later...

Nelcha - I hadn't heard about your accident - I certainly hope you're ok! "Head-on" is always serious...

Thanks folks, just thought I would have a little fun...

Well, at 200% it sure looks like the LF picked up a few details here, including an amazing capture of Preston and his LF setup too.

Nelcha, I hope you are OK and anyone else who might have been in the accident too. Sorry to hear this bad news. :frown:

kinda dark here. I think I would like either just focusing on the foreground snow or just the trees. as a landscape it seems a little lacking for my tastes. the snow is beautiful.
