I'm hoping to get some helping identifying the peaks in the following three pics (all in the San Juans). This first pic was taken near the summit of Stony Pass. If you're driving up from Silverton, the mountain in the center is a little past the summit on the left side of the road. Based on the map, I think it's Sheep Mountain.

(hmmm...I don't know why I can no longer post images in replies in either IE or Firefox?? It gives me the browse box, but won't post anything).
The 2nd image is of the small Lily Pond along Molas Pass, and I was facing east. My guess is that this is Whitehead Peak. Here's the link: http://www.gcollier.com/unknown1.jpg

This 3rd shot was taken along Hwy. 145 a little south of Telluride. I think the far mountain is Wilson Peak, but it's obscured by clouds and I took it so long ago that I'm not certain. Extra credit for naming both the near and far mountain.

#1: You're right, the moiuntain in the back is Sheep Mountain, with the righthand slope being that of Canby Mountain.
#2: Not sure, will take another look
#3: This looks like the east ridge of Sunshine Mountain is mostly obscurring a cloud-veiled Gladstone Peak.

#3: Actually, that could be Mount Wilson obscurred by clouds, and Gladstone would be to its right.

I'm still stumped on #2, even though it seems like it should be easy.

According to google earth that's the northeast slope of Wilson Peak in the foreground, Gladstone in the middle and Mount Wilson behind that in photo #3.

I found the mountain of #2 in Google Earth, but alas it's unlabeled although it's the mountains between Whitehead Peak and Electric Peak if that helps.

Thanks, Craig. I just found it on Google Earth too. The best I can find is a reference to it as "Arrow", elevation 12,891 feet. Of course, with the 13er Arrow Peak a little to the south, this confuses things. So I think I'll just avoiding naming it.
Thanks for the input!

If it just says "Arrow," I think that would make it Arrow BM (benchmark), which isn't really a peak name, but is different from 13er Arrow Peak.

Acording to my topo app, which has been wrong before, #2 is Whitehead with Rhoda on the left. I have a similar shot from Andrews Lake Link showing the same peak and I know the orientation of this shot.

Thanks, Mel. This was my initial guess too. But according to Google Earth and some pics I've found on the web, Whitehead Peak is a litttle to the left and Mount Rhoda's a little farther left still. Oh, and thanks Craig for getting me re-addicted to Google Earth .

Well, I was just up in the Molas Pass area today and stopped in at the wayside rest where they have a directory of the peaks. The peak in question is named Arrow Peak on that map. I was curious too as I've shot a number of images including that peak in the last few weeks. As a matter of fact, I shot it from what looks like the same little pond last week.

If the sign calls it Arrow Peak, the sign is wrong. Arrow Peak is farther up the Elk Creek drainage. You can see it from along the highway there, but just barely as a profile leading to side views of Vestal and the Trinity Peaks.
