Desert Twilight
I finally had time to rework an image that Preston had given me some ideas on awhile back now, and we also talked about it briefly during our fall outing too. As we both have similar scanners and I'm now using the same Silverfast software he has to scan with, the ideas came together here. It did take a lot of post processing, but I like it better now. Thank you Preston for your help on this one.
This was captured last spring between Lone Pine and Manzanar.

I have gone to Palm Desert/Palm Springs many many times and I have yet to see colors like this. This is absolutely gorgeous!!! Which desert was this taken at?

Sharon, this is at the open desert area just below the sierra range. This was taken looking west toward the sierras in the background. The sun has just set in the upper right hand corner and still giving a bit of light touching the sides of a few peaks here. Thank you for your comment. :wavey:

This is prefect in all, for me. I like the composition, red flower with yellow ones, diagonal foreground rocks.

I remember this, Paul. The rework is very nicely done! The color and the exposure is right on the money.

This high desert between the Owens Valley floor and the Sierra is one of my favorite places. The yellow-flowered bushes are Green Rabbit Brush. The lighter green plants are sage. The red flowers are desert paintbrush. The big peak on the crest (the one with the two 'horns') is Mount Williamson.

Again, nice job. Paul.

excellent detail and light. It's kinda cool how it hints of alpenglow on the upper ridges. we gotta meet up for a desert shoot one of these days.

Thank you for reviews and comments everyone. It helps to post and get constructive input as I had received when I first posted this one awhile back now.

Paul,

Classic, wonderful Eastern Sierra scene that I've come to expect and enjoy from you Paul. I love the mix of rabbit brush and sage and the hint of the paintbrush. Very well done front to back. The last light on the mountain top is a nice finishing touch.

As I've commented to Preston, it's amazing how beautiful this area is, when at first pass it appears as nothing but scrub brush and dry desert. I love it over there too.

Lon & Greg, thank you for your review and comments on this image. Overall, I guess it does show that even desert environments can hold some magical scenes too.

Paul,

Fantastic photo. I have wanted to photograph that scrub land terrain for a long time. I can only hope for images as nice.
