Drawn back to this place every time I visit the lakes. Maybe because there's an excellent hostelry at the end of the walk.

Nicely done Paul!!

A classic 'lakes' landscape, and works well in B&W for me.

Looks like a typical Cumbrian storm brewing, which adds the right mood to the shot.

Great subject for B&W Paul! I like composition, but (as you might guess ), I'll play a bit with contrast.

Cheers,
Marko

Great image Paul - it's got the lot :toast:

Perhaps Marko has a point and a tweak to the contrast might not go amiss bit the first thing I thought when I saw it was it might be in need of a bit of CCW rotation :wavey:

Lovely image Paul, compositionally I would probably have evened up the reeds and the bushes on each side a little more and crop out the half a rock on the left, but they are only minor nits. I particularly like the "depth" to the shot. As for the contrast I personally would not tweak it at all. The subtle tones and graduations work well for me and give a natural feel to the shot. I am sure it would look great printed and mounted in a simple frame.

Well done and great to see more B&W appearing.

Paul :toast:

ps - could I ask where in the Lakes it was taken?

Nice image Paul, would agree with others on a small tweak to the contrast, just seems a little flat at the mo.
I have'nt been up there for a while, really should make the effort.

Interesting image - I love the sky, it looks nice and stormy. I think I'd play about with the contrast of the lower part of the image also. Tristan

Hi Paul,

Agree with comments re contrast and a tad ccw rotation. Other than that, nice shot.

Nice one Paul. It's an oft-shot scene, but rarely presented in B&W. Perhaps a slight boost to contrast, and I'm not sure about the tree encroaching into the frame, but I still enjoy this a lot.

P.S Which hostelry do you refer to? (as it depends from where you walked to Elterwater) - the Brittania in Elterwater village?
