Had this bird turn up at my pond on Sunday in thick fog but thankfully he stayed around for a couple of hours, his mate turned up today but had one fish and flew off

Thanks for looking

A first for me also Andy!!

I have seen them perched at ground level, but don't recall seeing a shot such as this

Nicely framed, and an interesting KF shot :toast:

They are great subject on their own, but you did well with whole photo.

Cheers,

Very unusual and very nice - I'm jealous - I can't even get anywhere near a kingfisher and you get them coming to your pond????

Hi Andy

Quite different and I really like it. The OOF BG is a little busy but still a nice well composed image!

Cracking reflection - almost looks p'shopped in but clearly isn't as the angle has produced a new b/g.
Bet you enjoyed taking this one

Unusual perch. I thought they liked sitting higher. You should be well happy with this I reckon :toast:

Hi Andy,

Welcome to the forum :wavey:

As mentioned, very very nice image. Agree with David K re background, but this is minor. Colours of the Kingfisher are excellent as is that wonderful reflection.

Rob

Thanks very much for all the comments, with a bit of luck these birds should stay around. I have constructed a bank to one side of the pond in the hope they may nest next year. All I need now is a good supply for Sticklebacks

Many Thanks

Getting a great shot of a Kingfisher is one thing, but with a reflection as well takes it into a different league, Stunning.
