It was a Jack-Frosty morning on October 6th after a very cold storm in Lee Vining Canyon on The East Side of the Sierra.

Nice image, Preston! I like the backlit glow of the leaves, offset by the cooler tones of the foreground and shadows. Nice glow.
That sure was a cold morning. I still can't believe Johnny was wearing shorts. Brrrrrrr.

this is one my favorites of your Preston. that stark black and white down below then with the yellow leaves is very graphical. the composition is nice too.

Preston,
I like this very much too. I like it because it has a different feeling to it, I think mostly due to the dark contrast of the trunks and branches and even the fallen snow on the ground has a darker presentation to it. Contrast that with the wonderfully lit and snow-capped aspen leaves and this image really works for me.
And this image doesn't even make me feel cold - I can understand why Johnny was in shorts but just don't understand why everyone else was in parkas!
Glad to see more images from you from this trip Preston!
A really magical time caught in this scene, Preston. It truely shows the diverse weather conditions of this area and how it can enhance the scenes from day to day. Additionally, these weather conditions can bring about a variety of lighting conditions too, as seen here.
Sadly, I missed out on this and had moved south a bit already by this date. But, I still enjoyed the time I did have up there, as always.

I don't know Preston. I find myself wishing for more separation between the small aspen on the right and the BG. They blend together too much and it gets lost.

Another good one, Preston. What really captures my attention is the angle you chose to shoot this. A very creative composition indeed.
