I've been working on some photos as part of rebuilding my website. This is a stitch from July.

Here is a larger version.

I think I agree with Jesse. The paintbrush looks good, John, but the lupin doesn't look right. It must have been quite a sight to see! So I can understand wanting to get it all in the frame. Not too good lighting for it, sorry. I vote for a reshoot next wildflower season!

Composition is spot on but a little dark in front with the lupine. another good candidate for adjustments in camera raw or Fred Miranda's Velvia Vision.

It's really indicative of the area but I agree that the light is too harsh.

Yup the harsh light just isn't helping this. But I too agree the scene had to be groovy indeed!!!

Thanks for the comments all! I think I added to the ills of the harsh light by not opening the shadows enough at full size, leading to them plugging when reduced.

Regardless, I'll have to try again next summer. At this location I think morning prime time would be better, the sun would be slightly behind as apposed to in front (the way it is in this photograph).

I camped right there one year, John, it was great. I shot in the evening and then the next morning and then hiked out.

I also vote for the re-shoot. This one just isn't "ringing my chimes". It's all about the lighting.
