This photo was taken in late October (27th) near Munising, MI. This area is now owned by the Michigan Nature Association as part of its "Twin Falls Memorial Plant Preserve." There are actually 2 different falls here (we only made it to one of them). Each has a short, but relatively strenuous, hike to it. "Tannery Falls" has been renamed (I assume, by the MNA) to "Memorial Falls." The other is Known as "Rudy Olsen Memorial Falls" and has a dual horsetail (in the photos I have seen). I will plan to get back there next year.
The MNA can be seen at www.michigannature.org. I purchased their paperback "Michigan Nature Sanctuary Guidebook" for $29 at their website. It has pretty thorough explanations and directions, as well as a description of what you might find there. They have extensive holdings in South East Michigan, and also way up in the North West in the Keewenaw Peninsula. They also have others throughout the state. Some of them are purported to have some of the more rare Trillium species in the spring (e.g. the "Painted" Trillium and "Red" Trillium). I thought the book was worth it.

I must have missed these falls when I was in that area a few years ago. Nice exposure on this one, Andy.

Looks like a cool place to shoot, Andy. I like the way the curving strata bring my eye around to the falls. I wish the falls were a bit further into the image (don't know what your constraints were), but my biggest challenge is that the falls are not vertical. It feels like this might be a bit of wide-angle distortion -- something that can be corrected in PS.

Good point, Chuck. I always have to remember how important the little details are. It must be w/a distortion, because as I look closely, it looks like the upper tiers are vertical. I haven't worked much with the perspective correction tools in PS, but I can see I need to learn something new here. Thanks for the comment.
