Hi Major,
Stunning birds but because of their plumage I often find it hard to tell whether images are sharp or not. I'm on my work laptop so I'm going to assume this is. Might I suggest that this may have benifited from a small dash of flash?

Regards

Well captured - especially in the conditions today :toast:

A tad too tight all round for me personally and I'd go along with Johns' suggestion - just a smidgen of fill.

Lovely bird Major. Managed to get one of these last week at Titchwel but he was in the shade. Hopefully there will be more opportunities over the next few weeks.

Nice waxwing but angle is too steep and the background distracts a bit

Major,

A little tight in the frame for me, but a great shot all the same. Once it's done Yorkshire, and Gloucestershire, I'll have it in Worcestershire please

Withy the best will in the world gents there was no time to suddenly decided to use a bit of flash. My main priority was to at least get an image.
Birds dont always hang about posing for evermore.
This bird did take me by surprise though when it suddenly decided to come out from hiding behind numerous branches and pose to a certain degree. It was of course too close with the convertor as seen, so I scrambled about and removed it by which time the bird had moved.
Doh such is life.

Given the run-down on the situation Major, you've pulled off a fine result :toast:
