Hi all, after doing the 'lurking' thing I was compeled to join up and join in after reading the post by the'unhappy chap last week. Have to say I've found this forum fantastic in helping to nudge along my pathetic attempts to improve my photography this year so heartfelt thanks to all of you.
I'm not very computer literate so the first thing I'm struggling with is posting an image! I can't seem to add a copyright text or a watermark as suggested in the guidelines At the moment I'm using Elements 2. Can anybody help with this? Also I've resized an image to 700 pixels lengthways but it's still too big and has been rejected. How do I resize to the required 200kb? (I remember a time when you only had to understand the camera and where to send the roll of film!)
I'm really looking forward to participating in a great forum once these ridiculous hurdles have been jumped. All help very gratefully received!
All best,
Dave

Hi Dave,
Not familiar with elements, does it have a save for the web option? If so you can optimise file size there.
Copyright symbol for PC is something like ALT key 0169 (press the alt key when typing the numbers), for mac
its ALT G. You can check these out with google.
Remember also to work in sRGB for web pics. Keep trying you'll get there.

I use my website, my images are hosted by photopic, they have a free service, but i think you need their plus package where by you get no ads on your site, and you can add your own copyright txt to the image.

If you dont have a host it's very easy to use :)

David, I'm not familiar with Elements either, but guess that it have text tool in tools palette. So adding your copyright text is simple: click text tool (marked with "T"), hit Alt key and type 0169 as Tim suggested then just type your name and that's it. Paul already answered how to resize your image. If you'll still have problems, just say so in forum, and we'll try to help you out!

Good luck!
