Without doubt the most difficult part of being a moderator for me is making the call for the the weekly Moderator' Pick. On rare occasions an image will stand out and the choice is easy but more often than not there will be several images each week worthy of consideration. I wish there was a simple scientific formula to apply but in fact this is a totally subjective process where I try to take into account image impact, composition, technical excellence, comment volume and quality, and sometimes even author. It has been a very rare instance that I've picked a first post. In cases of a tie I tend to recognize those who are faithful posters and commenters over less frequent participants. On the other hand, I try to take into account the encouraging effect a pick may have on a new but talented member. The bottom line is that choosing is a bear but a joy nonetheless.
With that said, I'm hoping to end the year by torturing myself even more. The weeks of December 2 and 9 are the last two weeks that images will be eligible for the 2007 Editor's Pick of the year. Only images selected as weekly Moderator Picks are eligible for the annual award so I would like to give some of the runners up a final shot at the big dance. For those two weeks consider posting your best images of the year that WERE NOT chosen as Moderator's Picks during the year. IMO the Flora Forum has really grown in quantity and caliber of posts and this will be an opportunity to put up a retrospective showcase of some of the best images on the web in 2007. Looking forward to an awesome collection. >=))>
I surely will not miss to enjoy the splendid images that will appear on my screen in the first 15 days of December. Good idea Bill!

May: They could be but I was aiming more at images already posted throughout the year. As always, themes are just suggestions so if you have new stuff to post please do. >=))>
