Leaf Fall at Petit Jean
Today the boys and I hiked the trail at Petit Jean State Park to Cedar Creek Falls. Most of the way the leaves were yellows and browns, but in a couple of spots there were single red maple trees doing their thing. Thanks for looking, and any constructive criticism would be appreciated.

John, great shot, I really like the way the leaves lead you to the background.

John very nice, I love the pool of leaves and all the colors. and ditto what Tom said about leading to background. No critism from me only complements on this one.

Beautiful shot, John. You must have made it out before the wind kicked up, or maybe you were sheltered down in that ravine.

I think the canyon does keep out a lot of the wind. We were there from noon until about 4, and it was pretty calm down in there. It's a fantastic area...

Nice shot, John...that's one of my favorite pools at PJ. Beautiful leaves...

Guessed I walked right past you, somewhere. I was there at the crack of dawn, got my LF camera set-up, and discovered my spot meter battery was dead. Walked out, drove to Dardanelle, and couldn't believe Wal Mart had the sucker (usually have to get it at Radio Shack), drove back, and walked down about 3:00 and stayed till after sunset. I thought it was supposed to be OVERCAST today.

I was the guy constantly yelling at his kids to slow down. They kept running up ahead of me because they couldn't wait to get to the next boulder big enough to climb on! And I hear you on the sun thing.

Excellent shot, John. Great job on the composition.

John - did you happen to see the beautiful ducks come in and land in the pool at the base of the falls yesterday? There were 15-20 of them that came in all at once. When they saw about the same number of people walking around, they took off. I was about 30 feet away, and must say it was quite a comical, and beautiful scene for about 10 seconds...

Bill - that must have happened after we left. We were at the base of the falls about half an hour. If the sun hadn't been messing things up, I could have stayed there hours. The fallen yellow sweetgum leaves were everywhere, as I'm sure you noticed.

I haven't been to Petit Jean in an embarrassingly long time. Thanks for sharing a very nice photo of one of my favorite places!

I like this shot alot John, If you made a print of this it would be great. You have a great diagonal coming in from the left. If you could crop from the bottom or do some re-scaling to make I come from closer to the corner it might be an improvement. I like all the leaves too though. Maybe give them there own photo. You might turn the blue reflection in the water down a bit too.

I love the shot and that is just my opinion. However, I am writing this on my laptop in the ICU of Children's Hospital in LR where I have been camped for a week so ALL opinions are subject to change upon getting 3 hours straight of sleep. BTW No one ever agrees with me so take it for what is worth.

Tim, thanks for your feedback. The next time I'm working in Photoshop I'll try out your suggestions.
