Moraine Mirror
Another Canada shot, this time its Moraine Lake. You may have seen this shot with all the trees in the way, well I went for something a little more abstract by pulling the submerged foreground into the clouds.

5D, 17-40 at 28mm f11 ISO 100

Excellent of course, like what you've done with the water did you use a polariser?
Love to see it big, love to go to a David Clapp exhibition.

I have two pictures in my house, thats my exhibition! Pitiful I know...

I did use a polariser actually, forgot to add that, have a look over on ESandSky to see the portrait version which I much prefer as it contains an even madder abstract foreground.

Stunner David - still, no more than I've come to expect by now :toast: :toast: :toast:

The symmetry is astonishing - am very, very envious   :wavey:

Yes its a personal joke of mine, this is actually the china clay pits at Bugle in Cornwall, I was wondering when someone from the South West would notice it was a scam.

Wonderful clarity David, and you have done the scenery full justice :toast: :toast: :toast:

Cracking stuff David - forgive nosiness, but what month was this taken: I'm planning a trip to Canada next year (sadly in July/August which I know will be the busiest) so was almost contemplating avoiding the Banff etc honey-pots and going to the east coast area instead, but if the scenery is still as stunning as this then and the crowds/traffic not as ridiculous as I fear then I may reconsider.

The portrait version is an absolute belter - and demonstrates the submerged foregroaunds so much better.

Works very well in its own right but that verticle is just IT.

Nothing much to add, Dave. But as Tristan wrote, vertical is what doctor prescribed for me.

Cheers,
Marko

Thanks very much my friends - Mark S, I took this in mid September but I would say that the best time to go would be when there is some snow. Even though you are going in high summer there will be plenty to do and see, I wouldnt rule out Banff at all, Jasper is certainly a good place to base yourself as well and I had more luck here than Banff.

All the Canadian Rockies icons are a bit 'fall out the car and click' I am afraid, there is nothing personal to the views, you will always see other geeks with tripods, unless you want to really get into hiking and then you have to be very prepared. One morning it was -5 and then by 11am it was 25degC. Hat and gloves one minute then sweating in just a base layer the next.
