Bonjour
Today afternoon I went to photograph my water rail, every year for the last four years I have been feeding water rail. Today was my first time (I have been feeding for the last four weeks)
The sun and the cold was there as well as water rail 6 of them! they were chasing each other all the time.
One was really tame and was stretching in front of me, he did it severall time , but not facing me!! after cursing and shouting, at last he oblige and did a stretch sideway and in front of me!
the lens I was using is the 300f2.8 and the 1dm3.
The picture has been crop a little.
Thanks everyone for all the comment you made on my last post.
Bonne fin d`apres midi.
A bientot

Hi Frederic,
For me the Backgound and water are just right to show this magnificent bird,
well done.

Well done Frederic,
Lovely shot of this difficult bird. Did you use fill flash for this shot?
Since two weeks I'm feeding the Rails myself and I'm hoping to shoot the first end of this week (if I'm lucky )
Hope to see more of this this wonderful and noisy bird.
Hi a very nice image, but the water look like it is going down hill .

Hi Fredrick,
Really nice capture of a difficult species. My first reaction was also that the water looks like it's going downhill but when you check the vertical angle of the reeds it's correct. One of those things! Out of interest what do you feed them on?
All best
Dave

Hi Frederic,
Like the birds pose , this makes for a interesting image and the low angle works a treat , very nice.

A beautifully clear shot of this shy bird-what do you feed a rail?

I don't know if Frederic wants to reveal his feeding secret and if he doesn't I respect that. I feed the Rails with mealworms and the thing they absolutely love is canned catfood No joke.
Hi
I feed my water rail with flie pupae, maggets, kaster, dog`s food, birds seeds, scrap from my restaurant.....Anything eatable, they are like chicken and will eat anything.....good luck!
