Monument Rock experiment
A couple months ago, I posted a similar shot to this which in terms of clouds and stars, was much better than this shot. While waiting for the moon to move, my sleep deprived mind came up with this shot. Is the shadow to much? It shows scale, but I'm not sure it adds anything else. I took other shots where I move every few seconds during the 20 second exposure, which gave a more ghostly appearance. Even if the idea doesn't work, I got my exercise running back and forth from the camera to the rocks and trying to do it in under 10 seconds :). In the original, the shadow is pure black, but I used a layer to reduce it to a lighter shade.

I think its cool Rob. You need a space suit.

Hmmm... I like the idea, but I think it looks sort of artificial.

I agree, it looks artificial, but not sure how to lessen the fake look

Really neat concept Rob. I like this overall and think you might reduce some of the "artificial" look by setting a black point and then boosting contrast to taste. I could see you taking this the next step by setting a really long exposure and walking through the frame, pausing a couple of seconds with each step. A neat idea and I bet you had fun while shooting this!

Rob, really neat idea you have working here. It does have a kind of other worldly feel to. I like it, nice work.
