This is a shot of Mount Hood taken from Lolo Pass last week, following one of the storms that passed through and left snow above the 7,000 foot level. I've taken this shot hundreds of times - always a bit different, but thought I'd try black and white on this round. This is also with my new camera body, which is working out well thus far. Comments and suggestions appreciated, as always!

Olympus E-510, 14-54 lens at about 35mm, GND filter, polarizer, lots of fog buildup on the filter in very cold, humid conditions!

om,
Did you process this in infrared? I'd probably crop a bit off the bottom black layer of trees, not a lot, just a little. and darken the sky just a bit.( Just my taste) but this is a cool image I always find that for some reason B & W images are even more personal than color in terms of how one processes them. Obviously, there is no right or wrong.
Very nice.

Tom,
I've also shot this many times looking for the perfect conditions. The conditions may not have been perfect but a nice shot. Maybe a little too much contrast? Just an observation..

Thanks for the comments! Jack, I agree that BW has a lot more latitude in terms of what looks right. I definitely tend toward more contrasty and dark images, but I always enjoy working with them. That might be a throwback to when I was doing BW prints in the 80s, but they always feel more "artistic" to me.
