I'm sort of a vertical junkie and worked on vertical composition before taking photo I last posted. And that was a mistake. I learned (again ) that flare is much more of a problem when sun is higher on the sky.

I confess I know nothing about landscapes but this is a really nice image Marko. I love how the one tree is illuminated by the back light and becomes a foreground focal point, but my head can't understand why the other tree isn't similarly affected as it seems to be throwing an equally strong shadow.

Ooooo, ahhhh, Marko - it just gets better, and better and...............
Shot to die for (well, nearly ) - great colour and full of atmosphere.
Can't fault it - LOVE IT

Marko,
I like this image a lot - The sun balances that illuminated tree for me
If I was to pick a nit (and this is very very minor believe me - so feel free to ignore) is the slightly lighter green blob on the LHS of the image about 1/3 of the way up - for me it just draws my eye ever so slightly.
But what an image - superb. Thanks for sharing

Count me in as well, the tighter framing in this shot is much better IMHO compared to the wider pano version posted recently.

Such excellent control in super high contrast situations Marko that is some brutally hard light and shows that what the eye can perceive can be achieved. The bottom larch in all its autumn glory makes a great focal point. The shot is very smooth and well sharpened.

I think this is a much better shot, really well done.

Liked the previous shot enormously Marko {and the repost tweak rounded it off nicely}, but having seen this vert image, i agree with the above that this is the ideal framing
How do you get such good control of direct sunlight like this? I usually end up with flare all over the place. Perhaps I need to keep my lens cleaner or something. Great image. Tristan

Hi Marko. Wow that sun is bright, yes this is the best framing - very good

Works either way for me Marko, but this is superb. Nicely done

Thanks for your comments folks!
John: the other tree is spruce and have much denser needles and of darker colour. Another thing is that I lighten larch a bit for it to be more of a focal point.
Adrian: I'm aware of that blob. Its lens flare and I wasn't able to clean it up.
Tristan: clean lens helps a lot. On the other hand you have to be aware of flare and try to lay it on some place within your photo where it'll be easy to clean up in PS. It was a scary experience at first with digital, as 17-40 is decently flare resistant, but not nearly as much as LF lenses (even single coated ones). Now I'm learning how to deal with flare in PS and will continue to do so as sun burst is one of my favourite subjects.
