Last week Erik Stensland recommended Artists Showcase for float mounting so I went and tried their service. I picked up my 2 float images today and they look great! Not only is it quality work but the whole team down there is great to work with. I would highly recommend this company.

A followup question based on their website and work I've done before...

I note they specifically say "do not use lustre paper". Is there any reason for this? I've had lustre/pearl paper mounted elsewhere. (In fact, it's all I've used for my mounted pieces to-date.) I thought that was what most mounted prints I've seen used.

Les,

I have many mounted images over here and ALL of them were made on Epson Premium Luster in some very big sizes. I am delighted with them. I would be interested in hearing about this too.

Do they have a website?

Rene, here's the link to their home page:

I've only used glossy or matt paper for plaque mounting, so I can't comment about luster

Yes, they do mount on lustre papers. I took two images in, one was on matte and the other was on Epson premium Lustre paper. Early on they had some issues but they have all been resolved and they now mount on all types of lustre. Here is the link to their site: http://www.constructivehealing.com/Artist/CompanyInfo/

Thanks for the responses. Are these mounts also french cleat hangings?
Posted by Erik Stensland on November 15, 2007 at 12:16 PM
Hi Les, yes they use French Cleats for most of the mounting options. Glad everyone is getting acquainted with Sam and the gang. They really are good to work with.

Sorry I'm not on the forum these days, pushing to have my thesis completed by Dec 9th. Haven't taken a single photo in weeks! :frown:

I have been working with Artists Showcase for more than a year now and am glad to see they are working with other members here! They did a job for a Local Denver Medical Center and did all the mounting work of my prints for the project. I think they have one of my pieces hanging in the office somewher other than the bath room! LOL

I highly recommend Artists Showcase myself!

I'll be sending a few prints there tomorrow morning so I can have them in time for Winter art shows.

I've been talking with Sam and Brian also. they did a sample for me with their satin laminate that looks great! I'm taking four prints to them in the next couple of days. I'm looking forward to working with them.

Eric (or anyone), Have you used their linen laminate? It has a nice look and would probably look great on certain images but I'd like to hear some actual experiences.

I don't know this, but when I saw that they required either matte or glossy paper, I figured it was because those two styles of paper, unlike lustre, have virtually no texture on the surface that would interfere with their matte lamination process. Good to hear they might've resolved those issues, if that's indeed what the problem was. I'll be paying them a visit next week.

Erik, you need to be a sales rep for these guys, cause it sounds like you're referring a lot of business to them. I was in there yesterday and they seem really friendly and go out of their way to provide good customer service. So that's a good sign. They showed me some of your images there, John. They look nice (so nice that I snuck out with one of them ).

Grant, maybe you could push for some sort of percentage for me or better yet, just send me a percentage of what you spend there. I guess I just feel that this (CNP/RMNP) group has given so much to me over the last couple of years that I wanted to share what I had found. I'm really glad that people are pleased with what they are finding at Artist Showcase. Sam, Brian, David and gang have been really great to work with and reflect a lot of the values we find in this little virtual community of ours.

Wow, thanks for the nice comment Grant! I'm still in the learning stages but photography is my passion. I've been to Erik's studio several times and his work inspires me to a higher level. I've seen your site and your work is exceptional also..do you have a gallery in the area?

I dropped 3 prints off tonight and have no doubts the workmanship will be outstanding. Sam, Brian and the gang are very nice and thoughtful. They took time to answer all my questions and gave me a tour of the facility. Now I only have to get my images to match their work.

I picked up my 3 prints from Artist's Showcase - on Black Friday! I'm impressed.
