I grabbed this shot through the van window somewhere in New Mexico. The photo won’t win any awards, but that’s not the reason I like it. I have seen numerous photos in books and magazines where the late evening sun turns the rock a nice rich red. I had a hard time imaging that the rocks were this red; it’s one of those you have to see to believe it. It does go back to it’s all in the light. Thanks for looking!

I like it too, David. Since getting into photography a few years ago, even here in Arkansas I've noticed how red the light is bouncing off of objects lit by the sun just before it sets. I'll turn around expecting to see a deep red sun but it's just a normal light orange one... funny how that works. I can only imagine how red those rocks out in the Southwest must turn.

David nice shot. It's called alpenglow when the Sun sets you get a horizontal red glowing band and in red rock country where the rocks are truely a rusty color they do get very red or bright orange with this light.

David,
Yes, I just love the low light on the red rocks!! It's amazing!
Is that you I keep seeing driving around Bosque del Apache in the white rig with the Bella Vista tag on the front?
Things are good in New Mexico right now!!
Happy photo hunting

I kept seeing someone in a white vehicle with a Bella Vista tag on the front and an Arkansas license plate. After you posted the NM shot, I figured it had to be you.
The bird photography was great! I'm in Amarillo on my way home now. I'll post a gallery early in the week....

Very nice color, David. The afternoon sun can really bring some subjects to life, as you've shown here. Thanks for sharing.
