Salvage operation!!
Recently ive been trying to get some different angled shots of these birds {amoung others}, and in particular, head-on shots.

Its been quite difficult to get head, chest AND feet all within decent focus/dof at close range, due to these birds horizontal postures.

Just as i thought i may have managed a reasonable effort, both frames turned out to be under exposed by about a stop :frown: . Working manually, i suspect the edge of a cloud had lowered the light levels at the critical time, without me being aware of it

I think the slight upward angle has helped, with regards to also getting the leading foot in decent focus, and it does appear to me that i can salvage it for an A4 {this is almost a full frame shot}, but i'm kicking myself

Hopefully i shall get another crack fairly soon though!!

Well I think it's looking awesome at this size Alan - and the lighting looks like it's done in a studio :toast:

You sure this bird isn't stuffed

Hi Alan

Nice one - it is often difficult to get good image of bird straight on. My only wish with this one is that it had turned it's head the other way as the outline of the bill is lost in the plumage!
