Does anyone one else experience problems when trying to import NEF files into lightroom, mine just seems to freeze all the time!! any ideas????

Hi Andy,
I've had similar issues on my Mac because Lightroom was rendering it's own previews for each photo as it was importing them. It's a common problem and the solution can be better explained here:
If you're running a PC there is also a known problem with Nvidia Graphics cards which is also explained above.
If the above link does not work just type "Lightroom Slow" after you've clicked on the "Help resources online..." under the Help tab.

Andy - scrap lightroom and download ViewNX from the Nikon website - it's FREE so you'll like that and it does a sterling job of exporting your RAW files as 16 or 8 bit TIFFS to PS
