Bonjour
Here is a shot I was only dreaming about…….It became reality last spring!
This pair of grebe could not find a nesting platform on the lake and I could see them really looking for somewhere to nest. So I just build one for them! Within hours of having build a platform for them they were on it. Two days after the female had one egg…I was there when she had the egg…..
This picture was a INCREDIBLE MOMENT ! I was so exited that three quarter of my picture were blur….But I had a few and this is one of them.
After that big moment they were mating every hours….(A dream)
To answer at some of the question on my last post.
I would love to show you picture of my floating hide, but you are only allowed one picture a day…..this is going to take forever. If I can make a suggestion, I have see that the UKNP is having a meeting in two month unfortunately I work on weekend so I will not be there, but I am sure that if you ask him nicely Danny would bring his floating hide at the UKNP meeting? (Only a suggestion)
To use a floating hide at the seaside is a good idea. But beware of the surf!! Surf and floating hide DO NOT mix well together. I have a job of keeping mine strait as soon that there is a bit of wind, and this is in a lake ! Imagine at the seaside……
The thing I am sure of is that the day you will use a floating hide for the first time it will change the way you looked at picture of duck, grebe, heron etc...forever.
Ok, that is enough for today
Bonne journee

Wonderful image Frederic - so thoughtful of you to provide them with a comfy home
Although you can only post one image per 24 hrs, as a member you can add additional images to your existing topic - there is a line at the bottom of the reply section that states 'Include a .jpg file with your reply:' and allows you to choose an additional image per reply. (Don't go swamping us with images though - otherwise it can make your post take a while to open for some people on non broadband internet connections [are there still any out there???] )

Fantastic capture, Frederic, you must have got a real buzz from your work with these grebes. Thanks for the advice about the floating hides, I don't think I could make one big enough for my bulk though!
Best wishes
Phil

Your image has a real sense of intimacy; you're obviously close, but the grebes are not aware. The eyeline perspective makes it soomething different. Fantastic.

Another awesome image Frederic
I hate you already
Frederic - if you've got some images of your hide you could email them to me and I can put them on a blank page on my server and post a link to the page back on the forum - that'll save the forums machine space

Very intimate image Frederic. The use of a floating hide really pays off for this type of shot.
Well done.
