Tony Kuyper is one of my favorite photographers, so when he offered his Luminosity Masks I jumped all over them, and use them on probably 99% of my images today. Then Tony offered his Saturation Masks, and once again I jumped. If there's anything better than his Luminosity Masks, it would have to be his Saturation Masks! I don't know how many of you have or haven't tried them, but if you haven't, you should! They allow a degree of control in saturation increase/decrease that's just amazing. It's not just about increasing the saturation until your monitor explodes, you can do that within PS easily enough. With TK's masks, it about being able to SELECTIVELY increase/decrease saturation with great precision and ease so that you end up with a saturated image that looks believable and not hokey.
I was working on an image this morning that would have been trashed witout his Saturation Masks. They allowed to to put just enough saturation back into selected colors so that the scene looked as I remembered, without overdoing it.

Thanks Bill
Maybe this is the kick I need to finally get the latest version PhotoShop. My current version is too old to upgrade.

Thanks Bill, and THANK YOU Tony! I've been using Tony's luminosity masks for a little while now. I just got my saturation masks from Tony today and can't wait to start using them.

Nothing against this product, about which I know only what Bill has described, but Adobe Camera Raw 4.x also has sliders that let you adjust hue, saturation, and luminosity on a large palette of individual colors.

You're right Cliff, but the nice thing about Tony's is that you don't have to adjust the saturation first thing. Using a Jos. Holmes color space, I assign the appropriate variant after the RAW conversation, which would most certainly intensify the chosen saturations set in ACR. With Tony's masks, I usually apply them later in the process, after all other creative adjustments in order to be certain saturation isn't boosted too much. Besides, I don't use ACR anyway, I use Capture One.
I personally found that individual changes to the channels does not have as much effect compared to the 'overall' changes as TK has mentioned. I also do not use JHolmes 'variant' anymore.

Another big thumbs up for TK's Lum/Sat mask actions. Being a photoshop dummy, I find these extremely easy to use actions are a thing of beauty. Anyone using PS CS and higher should give them a look. You won't be sorry.
BTW,,,,,,thanks again Bill for the cast removal tip.

Bill, Tom, Preshant, David, and others--Thanks for your enthusiasm and support. NPN has been a great place find resonance with other photographers who share a passion for nature's light and pixels.
