This might be a little flat - comments on that would be appreciated (plus on anything else, for that matter!) This was taken this afternoon up on the Old Salmon River Trail. Traces of snow everywhere, so it was a bit challenging to find scenes without white blobs. I'm a fan of brown leaves, but would be interested in what others think about this sort of scene.

Olympus E-510, 11-22mm lens at about 13mm, f11, 1 second, polarizer... cold fingers...

Classic river shot and comp...

I like the brown leaves too but the whole image seems soft and dull....maybe some contrast and saturation adjustments...maybe levels or curves.....however you work it...make it a bit more punchy!!!

Thanks, Darren - I was kinda thinking the same thing. This is the reworked image, with a bit more saturation and color balance adjusted.

Tom, can I take it for a minute and play with the colors!?

Hmmm... My originals look very flat this morning - I've noticed that working on these at night in a generally dark room makes everything look brighter on screen than it appears during the day (I'm using a 17" CRT). I like your version, Darren, though I'd turn the saturation down just a notch on the yellows and/or reds. Definitely an improvement. Thanks for giving it a spin!

Tom, I love the overall scene in this frame - extremely nice foreground. I think somewhere between your #2 post and Darren's would be quite nice in terms of color adjustment. Of course the fine tuning is all subjective, and we all have different monitors. I have noticed how much differently I do colors at night too.
