Hi to all,
Dipper , photographed this morning nr Lathkil , I've tried to include more of the enviroment but I'm not sure if it works on this particular image ??? , any thoughts would be appreciated.

yes i think this works very well, even the environmental elements are well composed, although i'm undecided as to whether the RHS oof grass adds to or detracts from the feeling of 'home', at the moment i'm in favour of it, but not sure.
nice image.

Hi Andy,
The image certainly 'works' for me although the top left quarter looks a little strange. That doesn't detract though. I'd loose the straw coloured item growing out of the top of the tail, which does take the eye a bit, and what are you doing shooting .jpg? You've burnt a little of the breast plumage and with .jpg there will be no way of bringing that back.
Those points aside, a fine image.

I've got to ask the same question as Ian - why
The blown highlight infront of the birds shoulder does spoil it a bit for me, and it's a pity your PoV wasn't a foot or so to the left.
Having said all that it's far better than any Dipper shot I've got

Nits have been picked, criticism is out, but i still like your image.

All been said, but it's a nice image none the less, and I bet you're pleased with it.

Hi to all,
Processing RAW images is something I haven't been able to master , I understand where your coming from regarding the recovery of an image , whether it be blown highlights or incorrect white balance , so until my processing skills improve I'll have to stick with jpeg.
Thanks for the comments , they really are appreciated.
