Silver Falls SP
It feels a little weird posting images here instead of RMNP. But we just bought a place over in King City, so I can stop thinking of this as a long visit. We're on our way to making Oregon home!

In between house-hunting trips and business travel, I managed to make it to Silver Falls SP a couple of weekends ago. It wasn't the first place I thought I'd visit here, but it's a short drive from my temporary "home" (a Residence Inn) in Salem.

I'm not sure if it's okay to post multiple photos in a thread (RMNP is like the Outback Steakhouse - no rules ); Erik, Rick - please let me know or feel free to delete the subsequent images.

No high art here; just snapshots with an Olympus C-8080. I kept them to 500px as I don't have my main PC, just a smaller laptop. Color and contrast may not be optimized for that reason as well, but I still wanted to post and do something "normal" for a change....

This is South Falls.

It's okay, Rick - I did the same thing last Spring when I first posted (multiple images), and Erik was quite gentle about jerking my chain! I've been a good dog since..!

I like the second image, with the forest detail - captures the feel of late autumn nicely. Glad to have another photographer locating in Oregon. We'll have enough snow in the Cascades soon to make you feel a bit like you're back in the Rockies. Meanwhile, be sure to check out the Oregon Coast in winter - some of the best photography, and very few tourists to dodge.

Did you know that they've pulled a couple of bodies out of the South Falls splash pool this Fall? Kinda creepy.

Hi Rick, glad to hear you're getting settled into the NW and welcome. Thanks for posting these. I've never been to Silver Falls; it looks like I need to remedy that one of these days. Where did you move from in CO? I spent four years in Ft. Collins going to school and really enjoyed Colorado. I wish I had been into photography then.

That's right, I forgot you were moving out here. Cool. This shots are pretty nice. We'll have to have a big spring outing/beer fest sometime next spring so that we can all meet face to face.

Rick,
I'm glad you finally made it here. Hope to do some shooting with you sometime. As for the multiple posts, It is against the rules but we'll let it go this time since we want to make your stay here in Oregon as pleasant as possible.

Thanks for the one-time get out of jail free card - much appreciated! I'll behave from now on.

Did someone say "beer"? I'm all for that! I'm pretty much a wine guy, but I've been trying the local microbrews - McMenamins, Drop Top and Full Sail - good stuff, and it looks like there's plenty more to try.

Welcome Rick! We'll have to hold out own PNW Rick outting. The Eriks/Erics, can get together, and so can the Mark/Marcs!
SFSP is an awesome place! Fun to explore all year around. # 3 is pretty cool...

Welcome Rick--these folks here in the forum are not only good photog's but are really helpful. I agree with Mark about the Spring beer fest----only maybe sooner. See you in the field.
