I'm going to Donna in early January and was wandering what clothing is best suited for the trip? Obviously layers with waterproofs as an outer. What footwear is best though?
I was thinking of wearing a 3mm shorty wetsuit as a base layer. Any comments welcome.
Thanks

I didn't see Writepics post so sorry for that. It is really the footwear that bothers me most.

If you want to keep your feet dry, you will need knee-length rubber boots. If you have standard wellies, your feet may still get pretty cold, so it may be worth buying a couple sets of foot warmers. A pair will generally last about 3 hours.
I think you would definitely be more comfortable with a set of "wicking" undergarments as opposed to a neoprene wetsuit. The "capilene" or polyester-type fabrics are much better than the natural fibre (wool, cotton) garments; silk is OK, but the fit is often not very good.

I would just use my beach casting gear, which is good waterproof walking boots, waterproof breathable over trousers, and gaters to keep things together. I've walked through knee deep mud on Brean and Burnham beaches in freezing fog for 8 hours plus, so i think its pretty well "battle tested". I think of it, as wear what you would going for a walk in that weather, then just have waterproofs on top.
