I spent my long weekend in the San Juans, a good foot fell there, although i really didnt need or use snowshoes or skis. Here's one of my favorite places in the country, Ouray.

And more steam, with Sneffels range in back. More at ESS & M&N!

I really like the color in the top image. Also like the light on the top of the mountain.

Great conditions, great shots! I assume your "nearby river" is Ridgway Reservoir?

I like the first photo very much. The town looks very cold. Thank you for sharing.

the first image is very well done indeed Stan, nice job!

Neat shots! What would you think of cropping off a bit of the bottom of the Ouray pic? I think cropping would increase the impact of the photo.

Thanks, everyone. Dave, a crop sounds like a good idea. Todd-i guess that's what its called--part of the Uncompaghre River.

I like 'em! The town image is very very nice, and I like the fog and moon over the river...

Hey, thanks! Ill be posting a better (i think) version of that 2d scene on ESS in a few days, taken an hour or so before. Im still kicking myself for not being prepared earlier, though, since the steam was 'mingling' with the moon at the time.
