Here's an image from a trip to Silver Falls last January. Let me know what you think. Converted to B&W with contrast control in Photoshop as far as post processing goes.

Details:
* Taken on January 14, 2007
* Taken with a Nikon D70
* Exposure: 2 sec (2)
* Aperture: f/29
* Focal Length: 105 mm
* ISO Speed: 200
* Exposure Bias: 0 EV

Sorry you're not getting comments on this, Bryan... I'm not very good at B/W. But just considering the comp, the ice, as per your title, fails to capture the lead as far as subject matter. Overall I wish something came out to grab interest. There's a fairly pleasing diagonal in the comp. What's the color version like?

I've looked at this several times and just can't come up with an opinion. I kind of feel it would look nice printed big and framed in a lobby of an office building or Dr/dentist office. :confused:

Is that ice on the rocks as well as the log? This larger version is helpful Bryan, but I'm not really getting pulled in here. I think Catherine is right that the ice is just too small a part of the photo. Maybe a tighter shot leaving out the rock on the left?

I can see what you guys mean about a lack of a real subject. The color version is completely uninteresting. Thanks for the feedback anyways on this one.

I keep looking at it, trying to figure out the scale. It's sort of interesting but it's sort of soft also. All in all, well, better luck next time. :frown:
