A composite of 3 images: a sunset from Italy; a moon shot from the other night modified to tone into the sunset and blurred to match the OOF Amalfi mountain silhouette; and an old barn owl shot from Welney

Mike - nice idea, but to me the moon doesn't look quite real. It might be the shadow around the left hand edge of it... not quite sure.

Some will like it Mike, but for me it doesn't work. Given the size of the moon there's simply too much focus/clarity in the shot - except in the mid-ground! ie near (owl) is in focus, distance (moon) is in focus..but mid (hills) is OOF. You'd be better softening/defocusing the moon - it would become more believable then.

The missing feathers on the owl are a bit glaring too.

Interesting I think the moon is too central. Maybe have the owl flying towards or away from it

Very nice idea but I think you need to combine them better for it to be more convincing. For instance the dark rim around the top of the moon would not be there and the bird could do with softer edges so it doesnt look as pasted in. Tristan

Fraid it doesn't work for me.... I think it is that the moon looks to be too large....

All the best

Definitely looks more realistic with the more OOF moon, although for my taste the pink and purple shades are a bit strong! Good job on repairing the broken wing feathers!

Looks better to me - Oh by the way mike - I love those lenses I bought off you, they rarely leave my camera now!

The repost is a definite improvement Mike, perhaps a bit too much colour for my taste. Also wouldn't the moon be showing some brightness relative to the background sky (afterall the moon is in the sun  ). Interesting experiment.

Not sure why the jpeg has come out so vivid on sRGB conversion - the original TIFF is much more muted!

not to everyones tastes I'm sure but should do a few sales as notelet cards at my local bird club......
