BHG
Tool this ages ago and for some reason kept it  I'm sure I have better Gull shots than this, but I can't find any  So thought I'd post it anyway.

Bit paranoid about sharpening and BG's at the moment as when I look at my images on my old CRT, they look fine, but on my work monitor (which is pretty poor), the sharpening looks overdone and the BG look all pixelated. I assume people would mention those things in their comments if they were visible on their monitors?

Cheers for any comments

Found the RAW file so here's the techs: 1d2, 500/4 + 2x, 1/80th, iso320, f11, tripod.

Hi Graeme - your worry points look okay to me :toast:

Has my CRT gone nuts now or are the legs and beak really that colour - and there's a dust bunny on the right towards the top    :wavey:

Yeah I thought that Andy. Usually I'm fairly careful about colouration of legs etc. I will find the original now  A cheeky search has revealed that you are right. They don't have luminous red legs surprisingly  Have reprocessed it. Thanks for the comment.
Any better?

I dunno matey, only you can say

I've just checked the temp of this CRT and its 6498K, and if it was my image I'd be re-processing again :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:

But then again I might be pulling ya leg matey   .......or......I might not be

Now I'm confused  Reprocess? I'll probably bin it anyway

Well I'll have it and call it mine then - I think it's a nice comp and a nice detailed shot - but I still think his legs are still a tad red

Hi Graeme,

Nice shot , repost is a more accurate representation of the bird.

Regards

Andy...

You're shapening is absolutely fine. Remember you dont have to sharpen the entire image - you can always selectively sharpen. Tristan

Looks good but the colour still don't look right to me either, level of sharpening is fine.

I like this. BHG can show quite strikingly orangey/red legs in breeding plumage however this is an adult winter just coming into summer so it's probably still a tad too colourful. Lovely shot all the same.

Thanks for the feedback. This must be happening when I'm adjusting the colour balance as saturation is minimal and I'm certainly erring on the side of caution on the repost
