I know I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer - but - two weeks ago my new I-MAC was delivered for my change from PC to MAC. Our youngest son gave me Lightroom and CS3 for my 61st birthday. I have moved my shots into Lightroom and loaded my EPSON Stylus Photo 2200 printer. I also downloaded the latest driver for the printer. However, when I have a shot open in Develop mode and hit the printer key a small box appears stating, "An error occurred when attempting to change modules".
The printer works fine with the word processor but I can't find any info on what's wrong with Lightroom and the printer.
HELP!!!!!!

I have never done any printing in Lightroom but I'll try my best to help you out. Are you manually moving the image from the Develop module to the Print module in LR before trying to print? I get the impression that you are trying to print directly from the Develop module and I don't believe you can do that??

I have been trying to print from the develop module. How do I move the shot to the print module?

Merle, all you have to do is once you are finished with the image in Develop just click on the Print module "button" that is in the upper right corner of the LR interface. That will move the image from Develop to Print.

If that doesn't work, try selecting the print in the library or another module and then clicking on the print module. If this works, the fun may be just beginning. If you get hung up, go to photo.net and do a search. Printing with lightroom has been discussed a lot there. I hope mac presents fewer problems than pc. Good luck.

Thanks for the help. I have tried all the suggestions and also tried using the print command under the file heading. None work. I will now try the photo.net search and see what happens. I have used Elements from the first one thru #5 and have had good luck with them. Now it's time for the old dog to learn new tricks. I appreciate your efforts.

Merle,
You may also want to check the Lightroom forum over at Adobe Forums. A quick search showed similar problems with the Leopard OS: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c054ad7/0

Rod,
Thanks for the info. I've read the sites and it sounds like I might have an updated driver by the time I see you in Colorado next July, if Epson decides to support my printer. But, I'm not holding my breath. Until then I will export to CS3 and print from there.

The last message was wishful thinking. I can't print anything from Leopard. Must be a conspiracy to make me buy a new printer. Even If I could afford one, I'm not sure what to get at this point.

If you have to get a new printer, consider the Epson 3800 instead of the 2400. It is a bit more expensive, but the difference is made up for in ink which is included. The ink cartridges are more expensive (but also much larger), but the ink is roughly 40% less per mL than what you used in your 2200 (and what is in the 2400). I'm an R1800 user myself, but I think the next time I run out of ink, I'll migrate to the 3800 or its replacement. I've easily spent enough on ink with my 1800 over its lifespan to have purchased the 3800.

Mel,
Thanks for the info. I looked at it on Epson's site and that is one impressive printer. It goes to the top of my posssibles list.
If you are running Leopard, have you updated LR to version 1.3?

Hey Bill, No, I haven't updated it yet. I am in the process of moving my life from PC to Mac and that is taking up all my time and frustrations. I have barely touched Lightroom and don't plan on doing much with it until I can at least get my e-mail and other accounts changed over. I know the Mac will be easier - but - I have been PC since they first came out. AAAARRGH. thanks for the input, I appreciate it.
