It’s getting to be that time of year. The ice is forming along the streams and the ponds are frozen over. We should be ice fishing by this weekend.

This is a shot from the Devils Punch Bowl. There are a few days when the ice starts to form that you can get this type of shot at the bottom of the wall or on ledges along the wall. Here
are a few more shots from the same day.

Thats pretty neat phillip, great textures. I've been waiting for the freeze here in central Minnesota and I think this weekend will be the first where there is some significant ice buildup.

Where is the Devils Punch Bowl?

Devils Punch Bowl is just outside Menomonie. You go west on highway 29 across the Red Cedar River. Turn left on county P for a couple of hundred yards. Turn left on Paradise Valley Road for about 3+ miles. There is a small parking lot on the left of the road. Next time I'm down there I'll get some better instructions and put them on my web site. I wad back again today and all of the water splash shots were gone because of the rapid ice buildup. However, there were some great ice pattern shots along the stream. The ice wall along the Red Cedar Trail is in the same area.

I like the way the light catches on the internal structures here Philip. Nice collection of images on your site. Loved the eagle!
