Man, it was foggy....tundra swans
I spent a wild morning in Grey Lodge Wildlife Area(near ChicoCA)last week. I found several cool subjects, despite having almost no visibility in some places.
Canon40D, 1-400mm IS, out of the car.

I think the fog works nicely here. Love the wings too! :toast:

A unique and interesting image. Maybe a little more processing would really put this over the top. What I would also do is clone out the stuff that looks like dust bunnies in the water. I know it's grass or some kind of vegitation. but they are kind of distracting. BTW, my wife loves this. She doesn't say that often about images. :toast:

Great photo with even more potential. I love the way you centered the swan stretching its wings. I would be tempted to crop some of the top part off and turn it into more of a pano format. The empty space at the top is excessive. I agree with Erik on the processing, specifically adding contrast and cooling the color just a tad should make it less muddy without ruining the fog effect. For me, the vegetation isn't distracting.

I dunno about losing very much of the top... the headroom lends a sense of mystery to this scene. I envision an incoming swan landing in that foggy background at any moment and even though it didn't happen here the mere possibility makes this image even more engaging for me. It sparks the imagination of the viewer to become part of the experience instead of having every aspect so neatly laid out that it leaves no room for them to look any further.

I agree with you, Larry. The headroom at the top stays. Cloning out the grass would be a good idea. This is a very cool image. Might make a good BW.
