I was wondering where the MidWest banner is.. I noticed the other regions have some pretty colorful ones..

Well...

I believe its something that the forum moderator has the ability to change/make decisions on. Danny is currently listed as the moderator, but he's really been to busy to participate much from my understanding. I'm not an actual NPN "member", so I don't think it's something I would be able to do unless I paid the subscription fee. Perhaps we should contact Danny to find out the best way to procede.

Wouldn't want to rush 'em to do anything if he is busy... No biggy.. Just wondering.. Most of us here could put together a nice file to use from the available images.. Or even have a contest to win a spot.. Just a couple suggestions.. I'm new here and just feelin my way around..

The feedback and ideas are good Susie. I'm glad you brought it up! While we're on that topic, I'd also like to have an introduction thread where the photographers from the region could post a personal photo and introduce themselves...

I can contact Danny later this week about some of the ideas.

Might be easier to start with Jim Erhardt since he oversees the whole site. In looking at the code, there's some scripting involved in the buttons, but nothing too complicated. I'd be willing to create the art if folks want to contribute images.

Joel, Chuck, Susie, Everyone,

I know everyone is busy this day in age! The ideas in doing this, I think, could be the spark to help this forum to become more active. I get kinda envious at the other regional forums for being busier than ours! I'm no computer wizard by any means, actually enough to get myself in trouble. So, if you need anything, I'll do my share if needed too! :wavey:

I would agree that we should update our site. The Pacific Northwest group has rotating images and the RMNP select a monthly image to display. I might be able to help if it isn’t too complicated. My html skills have become a little rusty since retirement.

I'm lacking in the code area... I like the intro post.. That could be a sticky one and let me know how I could help.. I know the other regions are poppin with some neat ideas... I'll be gone for the coming week.. :frown: Wish I could get in on the action more.. I'll try to stay connected while I'm away.. :wavey:

Might be easier to start with Jim Erhardt since he oversees the whole site.

I think that makes a lot of sense. It's possible that if a design is submitted, the technical aspect of this can be put into place.

I don't know that this regional group has ever been as active as some of the others, but there was a time a few years back--four or five--when it was significantly more active and involved than it is now. I'm not sure that there's any inherent reason why things couldn't pick up again. The suggested "intro" thread might help by adding a more personal dimension to things...

I have to come out of the shadows for this one. I'd love to see the banner changed. Personally, I do not like the current one and feel that something far better could be created; however, I have very little idea on how difficult this might be.

I haven't been around much lately, at least not in a participating manner. Busy, but I've gotten in lots of photography, and will become more active in the coming days

Sounds like a plan then folks.

Any volenteers who will contact Jim? I could do it, but it might look better coming from a legit NPN member.

As far as forum participation goes, I would suspect that would eb and flow with the group at the time. Some of the other regions will inevitably get more traffic due to the larger number of photographers who are interested in photographing nature in those places. That said, I think we can do better to make this an active and welcoming regional forum.

Joel and everyone,

I'll send Jim an email and see what the procedure is for changing our banner. I'll get back to you when I get a response.

Thanks Chuck. I think we have been down this road several times and nothing seems to get done. Hopefully this time will be different.

Thanks Chuck, keep us posted. :toast:

We've had a few short bursts of energy in this forum over the past few years. Hopefully we can get some traction in the new year! Thanks Chuck for getting the ball rolling. :wavey:

Susie got the ball rolling. I just pushed it a little further. Sometimes it takes some new energy to make things happen. Haven't heard back from Jim, but will start a new thread with his response.

Hi Everyone.. I've been out of town this past week and hope you have heard back from Jim? I could pull together a banner but would want images to use for it, ect.. This is where a bit of a contest would be cool.. Then send it on to whoever needs it to make it happen.. I know for the successful people round here time is a precious commodity.. I've just been trained at a new job so still have time while that is gearing up.. Let me know! :wavey:

I've sent two emails to Jim (to two different addresses) and no response as of yet. Either he's really busy or I'm not getting through. I'll give him a couple more days, then try a different tactic.

Thanks for moving it along Chuck.. Let me know if I can help.. :wavey:
