If you have read my last post regarding Leopard and my Epson Photo 2200, you know that I am probably in the market for a printer. I have always used Epson and trust their quality. However, at this point I am not against change. As evidenced by in the last month changing from PC to I-MAC, Elements 5 to CS3 and added Lightroom. No learning curve here....
Now I find out that it is very possible Epson will not support my printer or my Perfection 4870 Photo scanner for Leopard.
What have you had good prints from and didn't have to spend an arm and a leg to purchase?
(and is supported for Leopard)..
I appreciate any and all suggestions.
tnx

If you are looking to replace the scanner, I'd probably look at the V700 or V750 rather than the 4990. I think you're buying into a longer support window with the V7XX series. No hardware or software manufacturer provides an indefinite support window.
For the printer, I replied in your previous post that I would choose the 3800. It has essentially the same output quality as the 2400 or 4800. It is the right balance of upfront cost and maintenance cost in my eyes. The Epson 4880 and Canon 5100 are a little cheaper in the ink cost (per mL), but the printers are more expensive. HP doesn't have a 17" printer of this type. When I run out of my current supply of ink for my R1800, the 3800 or its replacement is what I will move to.

Thanks Mel, I appreciate the input. After doing some more research, It looks like my scanner may be supported. Don't have time to try it today as we have to go to St Louis. Tomorrow when we have the freezing rain will be a good time to stay inside and get a little deeper into things.

Thanks Peter, I appreciate the further info on the scanner and printer. Epson did return an answer regarding the 2200 and sent me a page and a half of "very involved" instructions on how to get it to work with version 10.4, but nothing on 10.5. Kinda tells me they won't support it. The 3800 looks great. Now to convince my wife that I really need to spend that much money. Christmas is coming.....
