Moon, taken in April 07. Nice clear night.

After Tristan mentioned about stacking for his Jupiter moon pic, thought I would have a play with stacking in CS3. Doddle to do with autoalign. This is a stack of just four frames.

Techs
20D 400mm 5.6L,x2,x1.4. 1/13th @F18.ISO200.Tripod remote release and MLU Cropped a bit of black off the top. Bit of Smart Sharpen and that was it.

Apart from reducing noise, I think stacking helps with the detail.

Anyway any thoughts

edit oh and I took most of the colour out

Impressive technique and it is sharper than I would have expected with both a 2X and a 1.4X on.

That would make a beautiful poster

Very nice John, lovely smooth tones. I've stacked images of the moon before and it most certainly improves the image quality. For astronomy its one of the best techniques around.

Great shot and something I'm going to have to have a try at myself sometime. I prefer this kind of shot to the full moon shots, and like Mark says it would make a great poster.

I like these moon shots and am inspired to get out there with my big glass and stacked t/c's. Great shot :toast:
