Oregon Storms....
Are truly a beautiful thing to see. Particularly when one is returning home from a 51-day photo trip through the desert Southwest wherein it did not rain, snow or precipitate even once during that time. Oh, BTW, I've just returned from my most recent extended shooting trip. Hope I'll have plenty of time to catch up and discuss images over the next few days...but I won't. I did want to drop in and say hi though. C&C on this image is of course, most welcome. I was very fortunate to capture it a couple hours ago near Santiam Pass. A road I've driven probably as much as anyone alive, but scenes like this have usually eluded my camera. I was especially drawn to the clearing mist and old growth firs in the foreground, complimenting the new snow on the distant peaks and dramatic skies.

Marc,
Welcome back---your timing is perfect. I bet you'll be out this weekend!
I hope all is well.

Jack

PS--A great image, as usual

ah, yes, Marc is back! I can't wait to see your take on the SW. This one is nice, not thrilling but still very good.

I like this - the shapes and fog really helps. Welcome back to the land of moisture.... careful if you go to the beach tomorrow for massive waves and 80mph winds

Welcome back.

Dang, now I've got to find time to get to the beach tomorrow.

The clouds and mist add a great deal of power and drama. Nice!

Marc,
Glad to have you back. 51 days is a long time to be out in the field. Looking forward to see more of your images. I would say this is a pretty good teaser. Btw, how many miles do you have on that rig?

Welcome back, Marc, and thanks for a great shot to make us envious all over again. The B&W treatment here is terrific, it's my favorite medium and you have used it well here just like in your previous posts. I can just imagine being there...

Welcome back! I trust your extended journey was productive. Cant wait to see your pics, although I feel they are going to make me sick  .
This one is really nice, in my opinion. I like the amount of fog/low clouds between the trees and the dramatic sky.

Great atmosphere! That really dark ridge on the left really jumps out. Can't wait to see the Southwest Adamus style... where'd you go exactly?

Marc! I was wondering where you went. Welcome back and I look forward to your new photographs. I really like the atmosphere in this photograph...ive always been fond of shots with clouds and fog hugging different layers in the forest. You've created a great mood with this photograph.

Welcome back Marc, or should I say past tense since it seems you have headed out already again from you note above. The exposure with the fog and trees in the FG is perfect. This makes for a great b&w image.

This is absolutely ridiculous Marc. Aside from 'the award winner', this might be my favorite B/W of yours to date. Looks like you got in there just in time too.
