Cindy and I went and hiked Raven Run, a great little nature preserve that is maintained by the City of Lexington. It's about 15 minutes from the house. I can't wait until spring and this place really comes alive.

Nice composition, Dominic. The curved edge of the rock in the foreground continues a line started by the waterfall. I love the reflections in the water too. I'm curious about the need to composite. What focal length and aperture did you use?

Focal length was 90mm at f/8. I actually shot this scene as a test. I shot the same scene in one shot at f/11, f/14 and f/16 for comparison to the composite. In a full resolution file, the composite shows noticeable better sharpness throughout than the single images stopped down. At wider angles I see little need to create a composite, but with all the trees in leaf-off, I wanted to back up and zoom in to isolate this scene with a longer focal length, so I decided to go with a composite for this image.

Very good composition! The rock in the foreground adds a lot to the scene. Well done!

Nice work on this one, Dominic - very McNamara-ish.
Bill, That's quite a compliment. It does seem to have that quality, though I can't imaging how someone can do it with paint and a brush. He is the master!

Dominic, I really like this shot and the way the rock in the foreground carries your eye to the waterfall. Keep posting great stuff from Kentucky!

Nicely done Dominic, I like the curve of the foreground rock leading back to the falls. I agree with Tom keep posting those images from Kentucky.
