Cattle Egret and calf
Hi,
This is one from Sri Lanka earlier this year. I overexposed it horribly and have been tinkering with Photoshop trying to get a decent image. My idea at the time was to try to portry the very close relationship between the two creatures but the more I look at it the less interesting it seem to be! All thoughts welcome!
Cheers,
Dave

Hi David,

I think this would make a very nice image when processed correctly , although I can't help with that side of things I'm quite sure some of the PS pro's on this forum will be able to.

Regards

Andy...

I like the shot too. I think I would try out different crops to concentrate solely on the bird and the pretty cow.
As for processing, you could perhaps select the bird, inverse the selection and use levels to bring out more detail in the cow and not touch/blow the bird. There are many other ways like using shadows and highlights or even (if you shot in raw) do two conversions; one for the bird and one for the cow and merge the two results.
Hope this helps.

Try something like cropping to a panoramic roughly between the two brown lines. You could also try to lift the image a bit more by moving the mid-tones up a bit in brightness using the curves control in Photoshop.

Hi,
Paul Ashton very kindly emailed me after this post and offered to have a go at this shot. This is his work and I've cropped it as suggested above. It's a very definite improvement! Thanks Paul.
Cheers,
Dave
