Stonechat
Hi to all,

Stonechat , photographed at Salthouse yesterday morning , although very cold and windy we had a cracking day , with Snow and Lapland bunts showing down to about 20ft.

Composition wise this isn't the best I know , I was constanly having to switch focus points and then re-compose when this very flighty bird changed position on the perch and on this particular shot that left no room for the bird to look into , well thats my excuse anyway

Levels , Usm (100,0.5,1 x3 , Contrast , S/highlight and slight crop

Canon 40D , 500F4IS , Gitzo1325 , Wimberley v2
1/500th @ F8 iso160 -1/3 E/c

All comments most welcome

Kind regards

Andy...

Lovely shot Andy. What extraordinary claws these birds have. You were more fortunate than I in that you got near enough.

Maybe UKNP members should be supplied with a badge. I was there to taking the Lapland and Snow Buntings. Have to agree it was "B" cold. There's no gain without pain.

Very nice Andy, like the bg a lot.I saw one of these at salthouse when I was there, but it was backlit with no chance of getting round it.I was surprised how close the bunts are willing to get to you as well....

Very nice looking image Andy :toast:

You could easily add some more BG canvass to get the comp if you wanted too - personally all I'd try to do is soften that horizontal OoF stem.

Nice sharp image :wavey:

A most pleasing shot of these pretty little birds. I like the colours, pose and bg too.

Nice shot of a beautifull bird.the only thing I would said is the two tone background does not work for me, sorry...

Looks good to me and you've covered the nit. As Andy said, you could clone a bit more canvas. If I could do it, anyone could!
